When Palm rolled out the Palm Pre smart phone last summer, it looked like a serious challenger to the iPhone. Critics loved it, especially its Web OS platform. Now, less than a year later, the Pre looks more like the XFL or New Coke. Palm is up for sale and no one is beating down their door with zillion dollar checks. The future of Palm is questionable at best. What went wrong? And what does it mean for your next smart phone purchase?
