TEXT OF STORY

TESS VIGELAND: Well, if you really can put your money on anything, how about handicapping whether or not there will be a consumer financial protection agency? We began the hour hearing what some consumers think about it.

And now, the comedic elites have weighed in. Here with a clip from a “Funny or Die” video. Picture this: President Obama has a nightmare and is visited by several former presidents: Clinton, Carter, Ford, Reagan — or at least by the folks who played them on Saturday Night Live. In this excerpt, Bush 41 and 43 are talking to the current Oval Office resident.

Will Ferrell as George W. Bush: When I put the Iraq war on my credit card, I never dreamed I would be paying 28 percent in interest rates. It’s astronomical.

Sound of toilet flush

Dana Carvey as George Bush, Sr.: Yeah? Well, if you’d have listened to me, you would’ve raised taxes.

Bush, Jr.: Yeah, and then I would’ve had one term.

Bush, Sr.: Yeah, that second term of yours was a real victory lapper, wasn’t it Dubbers? Now listen Borat…

Fred Armisen as President Barack Obama: It’s Barack.

Bush, Sr.: Sorry, but you’ve gotta listen to these fellas, Babar. What you gotta understand is that we got a regulatory issue here, we got a regulate that and we’re going to get more bubbles, gonna get bigger, larger, then POP! Money goes to the weasels. Sometimes you gotta do the right thing. You gotta take those approval ratings there and screw ’em. Ratings, screw ’em. Right?

Bush Jr.: Take ’em to Nasty Town.

Dan Akroyd as Jimmy Carter: Well, I know a thing or two about doing what’s right and being unpopular.

Bush, Jr.: Oh great, if it isn’t Mr. Let’s-get-the-party started. What do you say we open up a bag of malaise potato chips?
