The dollar as art

Scott Jagow Dec 2, 2009

If we reach the point where the dollar isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on, perhaps the answer will be — Origami. Might as well turn something worthless into something beautiful. See what I mean…

This is the extraordinary artwork of a Chinese-American named Won Park. The pieces are all made with either a single dollar or with two one-dollar bills. Not a drop of glue either.

This is a one-dollar toilet. I dare you to beat that price.

Here’s a money grab. I mean, crab:

I wonder what GW would think about this?

From a photo taken on Wall Street?

I found these at Prieur du Plessis’s international investment blog. You can see more photos there. Here’s how he describes the artist:

Won Park has a master’s degree in Origami. He is also called the “money folder”, a practitioner of origami whose “canvas” is the US one-dollar bill.

Bending, twisting, and folding, he creates life-like shapes in stunning detail.

I’ll say. I didn’t know you could get a master’s degree in Origami.

I wonder how much a one-dollar toilet or a two-dollar crab might fetch at an art sale.
