Company history

The Tornante Company was founded in 2005 by Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney. The name means “hairpin turn” in Italian. Eisner was on a bike trip in the country when he first spotted the term, and perhaps thought it an appropriate description for his new venture.

Through the venture capital firm, Eisner manages brands and entities he either owns or is invested in, like Vuguru, Veoh, and Team Baby Entertainment. The company’s biggest hit is the Web series “Prom Queen,” a murder-mystery series that made its debut on MySpace and has over 20 million viewers thus far. It has also sold 20 episodes of a stop-motion animated comedy called “Glenn Martin DDS” to Nickelodeon.
