Botox might help migraines

Lori Stassi Sep 12, 2008

Botox eases wrinkles, but can it also ease migraine headaches? Allergan says it can. The company that produces Botox reports that two large tests show that the drug can prevent chronic migraines. Allergan says the clinical trials examined Botox injections in 1,384 human patients.

That news sent shares of the pharmeceutical company up 11 percent in late trading Thursday. Next year, Allergan is expected to ask the FDA to allow the anti-wrinkle drug to be used to help migraine sufferers.
