TEXT OF STORY

SCOTT JAGOW: It’s Friday, time for another installment of the Job Files. Take off your shoes, please.

DONNA LANDI: My name is Donna Landi. I am a podiatrist in New York City. There are a lot of people who think that we just do cosmetic type of work. That we treat toenails or we treat calluses and corns. We don’t, we treat everything on the foot.

Patients will come into the office and they’ll say to me, “Oh, I have the ugliest feet in the world.” And I assure them that that’s not the case. Also people are very self-conscious about foot odor, but it’s just part of our natural body odor.

Now there are some people that have very cosmetically unappealing feet and I tell people it doesn’t matter what your feet look like, as long as they’re strong enough to keep you going for 85, 90 years.

SCOTT JAGOW: Julia Morris produced today’s Job File. This is the Marketplace Morning Report, we are produced and distributed by American Public Media.
