Universal health insurance
One common criticism of universal health insurance is that we can't afford it. That argument no longer holds after the trillions spent on the banking bailout, including taking over of from Freddie and Fannie, as well as the coming partial nationalization of the banking system.
We can afford universal health coverage.

We always find the money for what we think we need. Perhaps the key for change to universal health insurance will be when enough people don't have or can't afford health insurance. I think that the presently insured, although sometimes sympathetic to those who are underinsured really have little incentive to actively work for universal health insurance.
