Should I know the "score"?

Chris Farrell Sep 23, 2011

Question: Do I need to know my credit score? I check my credit report at least once year. I don’t currently have any debt. I don’t foresee buying a car or house any time soon. Is there a reason for me to buy my credit score or is the credit report sufficient? Thanks. Nancy, Hiland, MA

Answer: No, there isn’t any reason why you should pay for your credit score without a major loan in your near future.

The exception would be if you were out to rebuild your credit history, but I have a feeling that isn’t the case with you. So, save your money.

I’m glad you check your credit report, though. Everybody should do that.
