Exelon’s history

Exelon Corporation is one of the nation’s largest electric utilities with approximately $19 billion in annual revenues. It distributes electricity to approximately 5.4 million customers in Illinois and Pennsylvania, and gas to 485,000 customers in the Philadelphia area. In addition, for energy delivery Exelon’s operations include energy generation and power marketing. In addition, Exelon operates the largest and most efficient nuclear fleet in the United States and the third largest commercial nuclear fleet in the world.

Exelon is a strong advocate for the clean energy and a supporter of the anti-global warming movement since its inception in 2000. In 2008, Exelon unveiled its strategy to eliminate the equivalent of its 2001 carbon footprint by 2020. A year after, the company announced that it will not renew its membership with the Chamber of Commerce, because of that organization’s stance against global warming legislation.

Exelon is based in Chicago.
