There’s a lot of talk, and blacked out sites, today about protesting SOPA. It seems like everybody is against it, so who wants it to pass? Former senator and current CEO for the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), Chris Dodd, stands behind the bill and considers today’s protests stunts. He writes on the MPAA blog: “It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and use their services. It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today. It’s a dangerous and troubling development when the platforms that serve as gateways to information intentionally skew the facts to incite their users in order to further their corporate interests.”
Rupert Murdoch, who recently discovered Twitter, has been using the micro-blogging site to push for SOPA and push against anybody against it.
