Wait, what was Schmidt doing at a TV conference?

John Moe Aug 29, 2011

It’s because Google TV is not dead, it was merely resting and now feels much better and thinks it will go for a walk. At that conference, Eric Schmidt said Google TV was a beta device. Google, he said, wants to expand the product within the next five years. Maybe there were TV plans in that Motorola deal after all.
Expanding sort of seems feasible: the whole idea of Google TV hasn’t caught on so there’s nowhere to go but up, but since it was launched without content providers’ support, it has sort of bombed.

Google also announces other beta products: New Coke, Mariah Carey’s film career, and the Tim Pawlenty presidential campaign.
