Teens sharing passwords with each other despite this being incredibly stupid

Young love used to mean wrapping your gal in a raccoon coat, buying a pennant, and taking her to the big game. At least that’s how grandpappy described it to me. Nowadays that’s all changed. Teens showing affection are now doing so by sharing their passwords, or so says the New York Times. “They say they know such digital entanglements are risky, because a souring relationship can lead to people using online secrets against each other. But that, they say, is part of what makes the symbolism of the shared password so powerful.” If you think about it, sharing a password is one of the most trusting acts you can share with someone. But kids, please be careful. Check out the closet in your basement. That’s where you’ll find the dusty lettermen’s jacket that your mom “accidentally” ran off with after breaking up with her high school beau. That guy suffered a little humiliation and was out the cost of the jacket, but you, young ones – you might be out much more, including the possible re-writing of your digital history, if you go sharing your password with any old Joe or Jane.
