SUPER COOKIES

Super cookies? Super cookies! We all know what internet cookies are by now, right? Little packets of data that a website stores on your computer when you visit so that when you return, they remember you. The Wall Street Journal says that the cookie race just got significantly souped up. Super cookies are apparently being deployed by major sites like Hulu and MSN. They're like cookies except virtually impossible for your computer to detect and even if you delete cookies, these stick around. And it's legal.

By the way, a news search on "Super Cookies", also gets you this.

"They’re like cookies except virtually impossible for your computer to detect and even if you delete cookies, these stick around."

This should (like almost everything in tech) have a currently in front of it. It will not take long for browsers to start dealing with these differently.

"Super Cookies" can be scary for an enterprise-class site and I'm glad information about this is reaching the net. I saw a glimpse of this mentioned on the morning news today. We always hear of "new" cookies that are able to collect user's information, so hopefully some of these major sites start taking the privacy concern a bit more seriously. There are definitely privacy solutions available to stop these "ever" or "super cookies" , such as Ensighten's Privacy Sentinel. The application can put a stop to any of these scary cookies.

Thanks for this information.
From this point forward, I'll not use MSN web site again.
I hope there will be a major abandonment of MSN's site by thousands of users; perhaps that will send a message .
