Sonyvision

YouTube is in the midst of launching Channels, Google updated its TV, Apple rumors are swirling that its making a TV, what’s next? Glad you asked. Looks like Sony is in talks with TV studios to beam content directly to its Internet-connected devices.

The Wall Street Journal reports “the biggest U.S. cable operator, Comcast Corp., has about 22.4 million video subscribers and serves a geographic area with over 52 million homes.” Compare that to the just over 18 million PlayStation 3 consoles have been sold in the U.S., then add Sony’s “new kind of TV” and Blu-ray players, and now there’s a new serious provider/player in the Internet on your TV game. The article makes note of Crackle, where people can already watch Sony movies, TV shows and webisodes. Who knew?

Not to be outdone, Apple announced yesterday that Disney CEO Robert Iger, has been given a seat on its board, presumably to help wheel and deal with studios.
