Well, it had to happen, I suppose. The Occupy movement has spread to the Internet with several developers launching the Occupy Flash movement to protest the ongoing existence of the application. Flash, of course, is ubiquitous on the web although famously non-existent on Apple devices. It has a bit of a reputation for being a space hog and being crashy. Adobe, who makes it, recently announced it would stop developing Flash for mobile and there’s a lot of speculation that overall Flash development will be the next to go. The Occupy movement, started by some developers with tongues located near cheeks, says it’s time to switch over to HTML5 to run things like YouTube. They’re encouraging mass uninstalls of Flash as a means of speeding along the HTML5 platform. They can be found at OccupyFlash.org. Flash can be found on all annoying corporate web site splash pages.
