New iMacs roll out

John Moe May 3, 2011

The Apple store was closed for a short time this morning, which is always a dead giveaway that some new product is about to roll out. In this case it was a new series of iMac computers (the store is back up now and selling them). The new computers are available in 21.5 or 27 inch screens and like their iMac predecessors the computer is built into the monitor, so you just have screen, keyboard, and mouse. The big story here is that they’re all equipped with Thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is supposedly 12 times faster than Firewire for transferring files, 20 times faster than USB.
Do people buy computers that aren’t laptops any more? I guess so.
