iCloud dies, iWork.com next

Cue up the Sarah McLachlan music because it’s time to remember MobileMe. The service officially kicked the bucket over the weekend. If you look at the success of the iPad, the iPhone, the Mac, it’s easy to believe that Apple has the Midas touch, except with brushed metal instead of gold, that everything the company does is a big hit. Not so. MobileMe is/was a series of cloud based tools for storing data, contacts, images, and more. Never really caught on much and a lot of it has now been replaced by iCloud.

Users of iWork.com, an online companion to Apple’s not all that popular iWork program, have been told that it’s getting canned at the end of July.
