Google Wave lives!

Except now it's going to be called Apache Wave. Google gifted Wave to the Apache Software Foundation's Incubator program. Apache is a non profit program to create and support open source software. I guess it kind of does two things. First, Apache nerds can collaborate on the tool and dink around with it to see if it could be easier and really be a platform everyone can use. Second, they could use it themselves since Wave is really all about collaboration and shared experience, which is what Apache does. I just keep thinking we're being told that Wave is being taken to a big farm upstate where it can run and play with other programs but we can never ever visit it.
