Google taking pictures inside businesses

John Moe May 9, 2011

You might as well open your medicine cabinet, take a picture, and send it to Google now. Get it over with. Because they’re coming for you. Google will soon have all pictures of everything online. Maybe by Thursday.

Okay maybe not by Thursday but soon. The latest news is Google Business Photos. Google is supplementing Maps and Places by taking interior photos of businesses. So you want to go to a Thai restaurant, you’ve read reviews, you’ve seen the Street View, but what kind of experience will you have? Soon you’ll be able to see the dining room, staff, whatever. These are pictures taken by Google, not the restaurant. Businesses have to request these photos be taken, otherwise it’s trespassing, but Google does it for free.

Here’s my office bookshelf, Google. Go nuts.
