Flipboard on iPhone and iPod touch

John Moe Dec 7, 2011

Here’s a story that is more important for what it represents rather than what it actually is. Flipboard is now available on the iPhone and the iPod Touch. It’s an application that’s been on the iPad for quite a while so this isn’t a launch, just an expansion. Flipboard takes your social media feeds like Facebook and Twitter and adds in news on categories you’re interested in. So it’s kind of a melding of news and social, with all the commensurate overlap those two entail. And it’s all laid out in a neat kind of panel display. The expansion means it will reach more people in more portable situations, maybe it also means it comes to Android soon.

But this is something that anyone interested in the future of media and of news will want to note. It’s still a little buggy, I’ve been trying to get it to work on an iPhone this morning but, alas, to no avail.
