Conde Nast brings new New Yorker subscription model to iPad

Now it will be cheaper to take out your iPad, feel guilty about skipping the long articles and look at the cartoons. The New Yorker will be available much cheaper for iPad and with a better subscription plan. It will cost $5.99 a month for a subscription or $59.99 a year. That's ten bucks cheaper than the subscription for the print edition for a year. Print subscribers will get the iPad version for free. So basically it's a ten dollar a year incentive to not kill trees in order to get cartoons of a dog who's really a businessman going to a psychiatrist or whatever. The old model for The New Yorker on iPad was that each issue cost five bucks whether you were a subscriber to print or not.

This is said to be the first big deal of many to come related to magazines and iPad. Seems like Apple might be trying to save print by killing print.
