Call of Duty to launch monthly fee for expanded service

John Moe May 31, 2011

The incredibly popular and realistic war video game franchise is preparing to launch a new subscription option where players pay a monthly fee for expanded content and capabilities. Network play has been popular for a while on Call of Duty games because it lets you be part of a battalion of soldiers fighting together. Under the new plan, set to debut in the fall, you’ll be able to meet up with particular friends and also keep better stats and chart progress throughout your battles. The question is: will people pay extra for this on top of the $60 they paid for the game and the $10 a month to be on the Xbox network? Sony’s PlayStation Network will support it too but, well, you know.
