Bananas pay wall in New York paper

John Moe Oct 26, 2010

Boing Boing flagged this rather alarmist approach on the part of an upstate New York newspaper to monetizing their online edition: threats! The first step by the North Country Gazette is a little red message on each article saying that you are only allowed to read one article for free (despite the fact that you can click on as many as you like). A second warning says that the paper is gathering user IP addresses and will issue subpoenas to people who read more than one article without paying. So consider print saved!
