ACLU questioning Michigan police officers’ use of extraction devices

John Moe Apr 20, 2011

Sounds like something out of Total Recall – extraction devices. The devices can download info – text messages, photos, videos, GPS data from most mobile phones, and the Michigan State Police have been using them from drivers they pull over – even if the driver isn’t suspected of a crime. The ACLU is now asking the Michigan State Police to hand over all the info they have about how they’re using the devices. The MSP says sure, when the ACLU pays them over $500,000 in processing fees.
