As Obama gets ready for his Facebook town hall this afternoon, The New York Times writes today that the political left doesn’t own the Internet – Republicans are better equipped to take their politicking online this election season. Sarah Palin rolled out a new website on Tuesday; Mitt Romney is already pushing #mitt2012; Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and Mike Huckabee are all on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Tim Pawlenty has learned a lesson from social games. His campaign allows people to earn ” badges and points to supporters who participate more fully in the campaign. As an example, supporters get 10 points for connecting their Facebook account to the campaign’s Web site and 5 points for adding their Twitter account. If you post a message on your Facebook page or set up your own group, you get a badge. “
