SCOTT JAGOW: Michael Dell knows his company better than anybody. He turned it from a college dorm room venture 15 years ago into the world's top computer maker.
But since Dell gave up the reigns as CEO about four years ago, his company has really struggled.
So, starting today, he's back as the man in charge.
Brian Gammage is a research analyst at Gartner in London. Gammage says Dell has a big job ahead.
BRIAN GAMMAGE: Dell had a very tried and tested approach to the PC market which was clearly successful a number of years ago and no longer is reaping the same results.
Dell investors had been calling for CEO Kevin Rollins to take a hike. The announcement sent shares 4 percent higher in after-hours trading.
