There’s a new gaming console in town: the Ouya. And it only costs $100. The console, which features indie video games, is already making waves online. Its Kickstarter campaign attracted over 60,000 backers and $8.5 million.

Ben Kuchera, senior editor for gaming website the Penny Arcade Report, says Ouya won’t put Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony out of business, but it will find an audience.

“For people who like the idea of a $100 console, they can play all sorts of interesting and smaller independent games,” Kuchera says. And, he adds, Ouya’s potential isn’t just speculation, “Amazon is sold out, Target online is sold out.”
