CES 2014: 'The year of sensors'
A Party Bot, bluetooth enabled speaker with lights, is on display at the Ion booth during the 2014 International CES at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 7, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES, the world's largest annual consumer technology trade show, runs through January 10 and is expected to feature 3,200 exhibitors showing off their latest products and services to about 150,000 attendees.
The convention facilities in Las Vegas are nothing to sneeze at, but this number is still impressive. At the International Consumer Electronics show this week, two million square feet of exhibit space is being used. And that means a lot of gizmos -- big, small, airborne, and worn. Lindsey Turrentine, editor-in-chief of reviews at CNET, tells Marketplace Tech host Ben Johnson why she's calling this year at CES "the year of the sensor."
