Google had one of those big product reveals today and actually pulled off a bit of a surprise. Google released Chromecast, which aficionados say is part of the larger consumer trend merging your television with your computer.
Chromecast will allow users to connect their devices, like smartphones and tablets, to the TV. An app then allows them to connect to their home Wi-Fi network and share content from their devices and the cloud on their TV.
Google will be taking on rival devices like Apple TV and Roku, but "the biggest difference is $35," says Marketplace's tech reporter Queena Kim. She says Apple TV, Roku and other streaming and interface devices cost upwards of $100.
