In Hawaii, high prices for electricity have led residents to cut back and look for alternatives.

The price of electricity – measured in cents per Kilowatt hour (kWh) – varies by state based on a combination of factors: the costs to generate it (68 percent), distribute it (24 percent), and transmit it from one place to another (7 percent). Use the map to find your state’s February 2011 price.
