U.S. refiner buys controversial Libyan rebel oil cargo

This final note today. Somebody’s finally bought that tanker ship full of oil from the Libyan rebels. And guess what? It’s us.

The U.S. refiner Tesoro said today it’s sending the million or so barrels of crude — with a street value of $100 million at today’s close — to its plant in Hawaii. A company spokesman told Reuters the sale was done in strict accordance with government sanctions against Muammar Gaddafi.
