Tax cuts and the World Cup in Russia

Kai Ryssdal Dec 2, 2010

Two final notes on the way out today: First, the House passed an extension of the Bush era tax cuts today for couples making less than $250,000. Everything else is going to expire. We’d spend more time on this story, but it’s just going to change in the Senate.

And also, a tweet in absentia from our senior editor Paddy Hirsch, away on a fellowship, about today’s soccer news: Russia winning the rights to host the 2018 World Cup. All the Russians who’re cheering, Paddy says, must be expats, pointing to studies that show no big increases in income or employment with building new sports stadiums.
