Marketplace’s story on mooncakes inspires a song

Kai Ryssdal Sep 12, 2011

This final note. Check out the sky tonight if you get a chance. On the Chinese calendar, this is the Mid-Autumn Festival, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. Mooncakes are logically the traditional gift and symbol of the holiday.

Our man in Shanghai Rob Schmitz did a story on the Chinese mooncake black market not too long ago. Which prompted a musical group called Songwriters in Seattle to come up with this.

The song’s called “A Black Market for Mooncakes.”
