Heinz and Wendy's re-think ketchup and hamburgers

This final note today, an observation about ketchup, hamburgers and the slow pace of change.

First of all, ketchup. The Wall Street Journal had a big story this morning about Heinz and its new easy-to-use single-serve ketchup package that the company spent three years developing.

And Wendy's, we learned today courtesy of the Associated Press, spent two-and-a-half years coming up with their new Dave's Hot `N Juicy hamburger.

Which brings me to this: Whatever happened to just a plain old burger and fries?
