Apple dominates media’s tech coverage

Kai Ryssdal Sep 27, 2010

This final note today. A small victory lap, if I might. I got some heat from listeners a couple of weeks ago when I stifled a yawn over the latest Apple announcement. I honestly don’t even remember what it was that Steve Jobs was so excited to tell us about that day.

But my observation that Apple’s pretty much *always rolling out something new and getting too much coverage for it has been quantified — and, by the way, validated. The Pew Research Center for Excellence in Journalism actually did a study. Radio, television, web, newspapers, everything. Turns out Apple has gotten 15 percent of all the coverage devoted to technology news over the past year. Here’s where I yawn again.
