Academy Awards ratings down from last year

This final note today, the first and last comment you'll hear on this broadcast about last night's Academy Awards. Somebody here in the office called me "old" today. Just 'cause I thought James Franco did a lousy job last night.

First of all, ouch. Second of all, I'm right. The ratings numbers don't lie. Nielsen reported preliminary numbers for the telecast today. Overall down 7 percent from a year ago. And that younger hipper demographic the Academy was going for? Two percent fewer of them, as well.

Call me old, hmph.

I totally agree! Franco reminded me of Jack Nicholson's character in One Flew Over the Coo-coos next after he received the electronic shock. Was anyone home?
