Tess Vigeland: Airlines seem to have pulled out of the financial crisis they’ve been in since 9/11.

Northwest posted a profit in its first full quarter out of bankruptcy. Hawaiian Air reported a 150 percent jump.

That doesn’t mean airlines always deal out high-flying service — in August, close to 30 percent of flights were delayed.

But don’t lay all the blame on the cockpit. On this week’s A Day in the Work Life, we reach cruising altitude with a pilot.

A Day in the Work Life was reported by Judith Ritter.
