The iPad, like my spirit, is completely broken

For one iPad owner, a void that even Apple's magical gadget could not fill.

Maybe Sam Weiner’s iPad is busted. He can use the Apple tablet to check his email, surf the web and tag photos on Facebook, but he still feels lost.

“I’m still gnawed at by a horrifying emptiness that no amount of fiddling with your magical gadget can fill,” he writes. "Is it too much to ask that the mere act of owning [Apple] products fill me with utter, unbroken contentment?"

Even getting all his Apple products -- from iTunes to iCloud to the Apple TV -- to work seamlessly together isn't helping his psyche. "No matter what song I select," he says, "the only thing I can hear is myself softly whispering 'You are garbage' inside my own head."

Listen to Weiner's tale of “woe” -- originally written for McSweeney's -- by listening to the audio above.

hah! my friend installed windows 8 on his notebook and after all the checks and the install found out that he needed a notebook manufactured after November 2011. He couldn't get anything to work and had to scramble to find supported drivers and ended up short a couple. Try calling Microsoft support. If anyone has their number, please let me know.

You thought it was boring? All I got was total sarcasm about what Apple products really are like...they are like most other tech products. They wont fill the emptiness in your soul, it's just a dumb phone/computer. Although I was constantly reminded of arguments with friends about why they paid more than 2x what I did for a computer with an apple on the back. Maybe it came across different for me b/c I read the McSweeney's article instead of listened to it.

rickevans033050 - I think you missed the point. The spot is poking fun at himself and other iFanboys...not shilling for Apple.

This article is hilarious. Apparently reason stops at the apple store!

Hilarious? Nah, tedious. Yet another public radio iFanboy shamelessly shilling for his favorite for profit corporation on not-for-profit public radio. It happens a lot across public radio programming, i.e the use of "your iPhone" instead of the more generic "your smartphone" blah, blah, blah. I don't ever recall any underwriting messages public radio's favorite Cupertino corporation.
