For Marketplace Morning Report, Mon., Aug. 29, 2011

Even with help from thousands of out-of-state repair crews, power companies say it may be days before some people see the lights back on a after Hurricane Irene hit the eastern seaboard. Despite a lot of wind and rain from that hurricane that blew through, Wall Street opened on time and traded as usual today. We learned this morning that Yoshihiko Noda will become Japan’s sixth prime minister in five years. He’s currently the finance minister — and he plans to raise taxes. The U.S. government is rolling out with a “USS Hybrid.” And watch out for a strain of superbugs that might be coming to a corn crop near you.

And here are the songs we played:

  • Fefe Naa Efe – Fela KutiBuy
  • Awake – Electric Guest
  • So Begins Our Alabee – Of MontrealBuy
  • Montanita – RatatatBuy
  • Who’s Keeping Time – OmidBuy
