Today we talked about bonds, of the corporate and overdue German variety, and about the lack of government contract overseers should stimulus money be pumped into the economy. We had a few stories about unemployment: there’s been a drop in first-time unemployment claims — the lowest number in two months — but 9.6 percent of Americans, and even worse, 15 percent of African-Americans, still can’t find jobs. Our reporter takes us to Memphis and one of the black communities where the recession seems to be hitting the hardest. And the pirate industry is rising, in both actual attacks and in the ways to deal with them. Here are the songs that we played:

  • The Sporting Life – The DecemberistsBuy
  • Gangsters & Thugs – TransplantsBuy
  • Jackass – BeckBuy
  • Boyfriend – Best CoastBuy
  • Tuesday Night in Memphis – John LurieBuy
