Video: Potash and cash

A road sign points the way to mining giant BHP Billiton's Mt. Arthur coal mine in Muswellbrook, Australia.

Listener David Lefkovits writes:
"When Intel announced they'd buy McAfee,
the market reacted with apathy:
With mass unemployment,
more PC deployment
looks doubtful, despite being hacker-free."

Thanks for showing me up, David -- I'll take it from here:

Potash, the big fertilizer,
believes that, on balance, it's wiser
to not go combining
with BHP mining --
So says their investment advisor.

Jobless claims rose again this week.
There's oil off the coast of Mozambique.

There's salmonella,
and profits fell a
lot for Sears
but not for Dell.

A scandal's emergin'.
No matter the splurgin'
you're doing, your olive oil isn't that virgin.

The oil spilled by our friend BP?
We thought it was gone, to a stunning degree?
Turns out it's still there, it's just under the sea.
I'll see you @Marketplace.org.

During the Market Place Report you played "Stormy Weather." Who is playing this version?

Heard short article tworads the end of Friday afternoons show (8-20-10) regarding TARP pay back. Can you tell me how I can get that information and/or what was the source?
Thanks
Ted

Hello Bill,

Thank you for the thrill of hearing my limerick on your show this morning, and for your very kind words. I enjoy the Marketplace Minute, and was tickled pink to have a few seconds on it.

Best regards,

David Lefkovits

This summer I'm braving my first Houston commute
The drivers are speedy and laws they refute.
It's a snarling mess
And makes for big stress
The speed to me is in excess.
But on Friday there is hope
Just as I near the end of my rope
The clock hits 8:58
What comes next I eagerly await
I've waited through the news and Renee Montagne
(The stock reports to me are a pain)
Then as the next minute draws near,
I exit the freeway and I am all ears.
I stop at the light and wiggle in my seat.
The "marketplace minute" just can't be beat.
I no longer notice that I'm stuck in traffic
Just focusing on the listening to the news in smart lyric.
I smile and I laugh and my mood shifts quickly
Because soon I'll be sending out the link to Marketplace dot o-r-g.
