Final Note

Happy Guinness World Records Day!

Kai Ryssdal Nov 17, 2011

This final note today, in observance of Guinness World Records Day.

More 200,000 people around the world took part in attempts to break or make records.

Here are some of our favorite records:

The world record for the most expensive tuna fish? One Bluefin tuna that weighed over 700 pounds was sold at a Tokyo fish market for about $420,000. And was promptly made into some very pricey sushi.

The world record for the most expensive phone number ever sold is $2.75 million. The number? 666-6666.

The world record for the most expensive house: $165 million for a Mediterranean villa located, not surprisingly, in Beverly Hills. Twenty-nine bedrooms, 40 bathrooms, three swimming pools, even its own nightclub.

The world record for the fastest growing economy goes to Qatar, with 19.4 percent increase in GDP last year. The fastest GDP decline was in the Republic of Georgia — the economy fell by 16 percent in the decade ending in 2006.
