U.S. President Barack Obama speaks during the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies 18th Annual Gala Dinner in Washington, D.C., May 8, 2012. The president today endorsed gay marriage.

This final note on the way out, which we'll file under the category of apparently genuine coincidences.

President Obama came out today in favor of gay marriage, as you might have possibly somehow heard. Kinda big news.

Which gets us to the coincidence. The closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange today? Rung by the executive director of the pro-gay rights Family Equality Council.
