Hi Heather, My name is Kira and I am 11. I love ballet. I want to try out for a summer intensive, but I'm scared I won't get in even know I know I'm good enough. If you could e-mail me back and tell me about a good summer intensive that I could try out for that would be great.

It was great to hear Heather Myers featured on "Day in the Work Life" on your program. While I agree with her that there should be money in ballet and congratulate her on a great career, I would like to point out that she is a soloist with a unionized company. As a former ballet dancer myself, my experience was a bit different. I mostly danced with regional companies, making significantly less than her and also being subject to frequent temporary lay-offs. So while I would like to encourage young dancers to follow their hearts and 'go for it' (and I was able to support myself), I think my own experience is more typical than Ms. Myers'.
