California rules cell phone maps OK while driving

It's actually raining in Los Angeles and much of California, so the traffic here in LA has been horrendous.
77 accidents just in the morning commute, and it's entirely possible it's going to get worse for reasons not weather related. A state court has ruled it's okay -- completely legal -- to check maps on your phone while you're driving. You can't talk unless it's hands free, and you can't text. But you can check your maps.
What could possibly go wrong?
