Buffett ready to match GOP tax donations

Billionaire Warren Buffett says he will match Republican tax donations to cut the nation's debt. He's still waiting for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to make a contribution.

Don't know if you caught it in "Time" magazine last week, but Warren Buffett said he'd match, dollar for dollar, any contributions made by Republican members of Congress to pay down the national debt.

According to CNBC today, Buffett's going to write a check for $49,000 -- matching the contributions this year and last by Rep. Scott Rigell of Virginia.

Best part? Buffett said he'd match contributions by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell three for one. Nothing yet from McConnell's office.

Kai:
You missed the point about the Buffett offer: Mitch McConnell started this by saying a couple weeks ago, "If Warren Buffett wants to pay more in taxes he can write a check to the government." Buffett challenged MCConnell with his 3-to-1 offer to smoke out MConnell -- who demonstrates his status as a blowhard, not somebody who wants to help the deficit. Please clarify that for the audience.
