The current state of state finances

California Gov. Jerry Brown helped bring his state out of a deficit and into a surplus.

As parts of the U.S. economy rebound, some states are beginning to find themselves in the position of needing to think about what to do with the extra money coming in from taxes.

Yes, an actual surplus. Remember that?

I listened to this story this morning. Lots of talk about what state's should do with excess taxes.
Some previous history of states sending money back to the tax payers.
Are you kidding me? How about using this money to pay down the state debts?
