People who know me know I love two things: Explaining stuff to people and getting stuff for free. So it gives me great pleasure to combine these two loves by explaining to you how you how you can get something from me for free.

And that free thing is... a copy of my new book, Man vs. Markets. It explains all the basics and some of the not-so-basics about the financial system. Think of it as one of my Whiteboard videos on paper – with a fancy cover.

Post a comment and you could get free stuff
All you have to do is post a comment on this page suggesting an idea for an upcoming episode of the Whiteboard. Each week starting Friday Sept. 1 and continuing for the next few months, I’ll pick one person at random who left a comment and send them a signed copy of my book. And I’ll use your best ideas for future Whiteboard videos.

So post your comments with ideas – we need them, because without ideas, there’ll be no Whiteboards, and that could leave us all very badly needing a drink!

How about how lobbyists run the US Congress, DoD, etc.
Something on how tech-ignorant Congress is would be interesting too!

Paddy: I have been researching FICO and the complexity of the various credit bureaus--I understand that having multiple credit cards canbe helpful as long as the balance is less than half of your max credit line -Also the credit score used at my local bank uses Experien and the car dealer down street has a different algorithm credit score..What can you say about Fair Issac?

Please help me understand what vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan is proposing for economic policies. Some people say it the greatest thing since sliced securities. Others say it is the worse thing since investing in beany babies. Every one agrees his plan gets everyone excited one way or another no matter who you are. I'm confused. Help me understand what he is proposing along the pros and cons of his plan. - Jack Standeven

Hello Paddy,
I would like to know why the mainstream financial institutions are reluctant in embracing the Bottom of the Pyramid business ideal where the use of (inexpensive) technology has demonstrated immense potential, dynamism, and viability.

Hi Paddy,

I am dying to know how countries (e.g. China) can spend its currency reserves. I know China has been having current account surpluses, so it has saved up a lot of money. I am curious why Chinese government doesn't use this money internally. I mean, why can't it just give the money away to its people, and turn them into consumers like the American people. And the Chinese economy will depend more on consumption like a developed country, instead of investment.

Thank you

Hey Paddy. I love your videos by the way. So informative and so much fun. Here are a few suggestions I had for a Whiteboard video

1) I sometimes find the whole idea behind the ESM, the 2 mechanisms the Eurozone is considering implementing to try to remedy the sovereign debt crisis, a little confusing. Maybe you could do a video on what is being proposed and how it would help out the trouble Eurozone countries that are really needing a drink right now.

2)The approaching fiscal cliff in the US also seems to be an important issue that is being somewhat ignored due to the election. Maybe you can discuss how such an adverse effect it could have on the US economy, leaving Americans very badly, needing a drink.

Paddy, I am forever confusing Keynes and Galbraith - even to the point of scrambling their images in my brain. Can you explain the differences in their economic theories through comparison and contrast? Can it be explained plainly and simply? Once this is resolved in my mind, I believe this will allow me to finally sleep peacefully. Thank you for helping all of us understand a baffling (and deliberately so) subject. ~David

Hi Paddy, I'd be interested in seeing a whiteboard discussing how the Fed sets rates for interbank lending and, more importantly, why credit has frozen over the last several years and what could be done to unfreeze it?

Thanks for your insight!
