Wells Fargo Corporate History

Wells Fargo's rise is inevitably tied to the fortunes and the blossoming of the West.

In 1852, Henry Wells and William Fargo founded Wells, Fargo & Co. in the gold rush port of San Francisco, offering banking services pegged to the exchange of gold. Soon, the nascent finance chain opened offices in other boomtowns and mining camps in the region.

To expedite communication and deliveries between these different locations, Wells, Fargo helped start the Overland Mail Company, which employed stagecoach, steamship, railroad and other forms of transportation. In 1866, Wells Fargo combined all the major western stage lines and stagecoaches emblazoned with the name Wells, Fargo & Co., which traversed over 3,000 miles of land from California to as far as Nebraska. The stagecoach became the bank's corporate symbol.

Today, the banking giant is a diversified financial services company with operations around the world. It is the fifth-largest bank in the United States by assets and the ninth-largest bank in the world by market capitalization.

Wells Fargo is the best bank in the world. I have received wonderful customer service for nearly 20yrs now. They are the only bank which cares about the Customer first policy. GO!! Wells !! GO!!

I hear Wells Fargo is having problems with the general public due to the Las Vegas trip that they want to take. All I can say is GO FOR IT and have a wonderful time!!! I know that if the shoe were on the other foot these people that are putting you down would never had said a thing about your trip to Vegas. I have been with Wells Fargo for a long time and I am far from being rich and I think all hard working people should be rewarded for their good deeds.

I have had my auto for over a year and never been late. In fact always paid at least 50 more than my payment amount. I feel I am a loyal customer. I just had medical issues. I called wf to see if I could pay my interest and they said to apply for an extension.Being I paid 1725.ahead when I bought and had this credit I felt I could do this. After my call, I received several calls per day mostly nice. Sunday 1/11//2009 Kevin called me from Arizona and in my 60 years of life have never been spoken to in this manner. He was so rude my daughter had to take my blood pressure. He called me a dead beat, people like me never pay their bills. And so on. You get the message.
Not only did he do this once he called me back after hanging up on me to yell at me again. I could not say a word when I asked him nicely could I speak he said all I do is talk and I was a dead beat again. If this call was recorded please listen. i have been trying to contact wells fargo auto but keep getting the call back later message ...i thought they were there 24 hours a day....i have written 2 letters asking for a payoff amount and still no reply....and why cant i email them ? my account number isnt even recognised ...whats going on ?

I am having some issues with Wells Fargo Financial. My husband and I had a credit card with Wells Fargo. We called and spoke with several very rude customer service representatives. All were rude and always said there is nothing we can do. I called back in June and was told about a balance in full program however when I called back it was said it was not available anymore. That was crazy I called within a weeks time. I am now seeking legal advice. I have explained my financial situation and no one at wells fargo seems to care.

when i moved to Alabama, i had an Auto loan with Bank of America. then my fiance' and i were making a decent income.we needed some debt consolidation and a friend referred to WF. The customer service was in deed great. they paid off the Bank of america and gave us some cash. We managed to to pay off all our credit cards. later on my fiance' lost his job due to health issues. for several months he was on FMLA and we managed to keep up with our payments. eventually there was no income , and i had to get me a second job. we used the credit cards to pay our tuition.
we have two credit cards, furniture loan, and auto loan with WF. due to a drop of house hold income we are not able to make any payments at the moment and we are behind with so many bills.

Currently my fiance got a job at a fast food, am still working two jobs making $10 an hour.i am also 3 months pregnant and am worried that we might not be able to catch up with the bills.

i have contacted wells fargo Collection department after they called me so many times and when explain the situation the lady on the phone threatened me by saying something like if i didn't pay my bills they were going to liquidate my wages.i was shocked because she even said that i should give up my car and not pay other bills. i informed her that i was late with my other bills as well.

i really want to trade off the car (2005 kia)and get a cheaper car that we can afford but i don't know how to go about it.

we have been with WF for over a year and i was hoping that they would give us a grace period to be able to catch up.

please advise on what we need to do.

Wells fargo is harassing my 14 year old daughter with constant phone calls at all hours of the day and night. I have called you company 15 times to no avail this child does not own a car has not co-signed for a car and has no account with your firm. Nor does anyone in our family Not one person at Wells Fargo has offered to resolve this matter it is obvious to me that some how in all you might wisdom you have programed the wrong number into you system. When given the number you call you are unable to link a name with the number, why do you think that is. This evening I spoke with Larry at 800-565-2310 and was told we would not receive another call this evening 9/17/08 and that he would contact his supervisor I have heard this twice the day. Another harassing call by Wells Fargo i will contact the Attoney Generals office in the state of S.C. and file a formal conplaint I will also get in touch with the BBB and like wise do the same not to mention filing an Harrassment suit of a minor.Next time we here from you it should be with an apology.

I am a victim of a bad morgage owned by WF and serviced through ASC; I have been unable to finance as I put the house on market due to job loss / relocation. I now want to stay in house but WF refuses to look at my loan. Pleae advice what to do. My phone # is 561-215-7159. Thanks
