How bad is it at General Motors?

Pretty bad, apparently.

Seems the manager of GM's 401(k) won't let the company's employees buy any more GM shares for their retirement funds.

Long time ago they had the advantage to get out the electric car.
Why they didn't? and now is it too late?
Big companies need to plan for rainy days too.
No matter how big they are.
They'll fall as big as they are, so why not have a cushion fund?
